Hope I'm at the right forum for this problem. If not please point me in the
right direction.
I have two computers on a network (actually more, but the two are up at the
same time..... sometimes). One computer is a self-built HTPC, the other is a
Sony VAIO. The HTPC is up most of the day, and the VAIO is up every morning
at the same time for updates with no problems. Sometimes if I am banging
around on the VAIO, I get a BSOD on the HTPC. This is the only time the HTPC
ever crashes, but it doesn't alway crash. The last time it did, I was using
explorer (VAIO) to copy some files from one machine to the other. I can't say
that explorer has always caused that to occur, sometimes I don't even notice
that the HTPC even crashed until I realize the HTPC's tuner card is no longer
displaying a program. MS always points to an unknown driver problem. I have
no idea where to start. The blue screen is almost always the same:
-------------------------------------------------------------
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your
computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps........

Technical information:
STOP: 0x0000000a (0x00000016, 0x0000001c, 0x00000000, 0x804e5f1)

(sometimes the last group is 0x804e1745)
----------------------------------------------------------

This has been happening for several years, you know, one of those things you
put up with.......Just thought I'd try to chase it down. I've scanned both
computers and found nothing (with AVG and couple of online scanners). Using
AVG antivirus, adaware, spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster....... always up to date.

Any ideas are well appreciated,

How do these two connect to the network? Do you have a router?

Hi
In addition, what is configured to be shared, and interact between the two
computers when Networked?

The two computers in question, a TiVo and a ReplayTV are in the livingroom
and are connected to an SMC 8 port Gigabit Switch. The SMC then feeds one of
the LAN ports on a Linksys 100 Mb Router who's WAN port feeds a Satellite
Modem. I know this arrangement might sounds strange, but it's the only way I
could get a firewall, of some sort, between the switch and the Sat Modem and
still get online. Hughes recommends NOT using a router and were of no help in
setting this up. I do get good transfer rates computer to computer 200 to 300
Mb while still able to get out on the net from any computer.

Thanks,

File and print sharing is on. I'm not aware of anything else, but since I'm
not all that "network savy"....How do I tell? "Computer Management", on the
HTPC, shows I'm sharing a couple of folders, my 3 Video drives and print$. Is
this what you mean?

Thanks,
