At least once a day, I am getting a blue screen with this message in the
middle of working on my computer. I am connected to a wireless connection,
but haven't used a USB connection recently. There has been a Memorex pocket
CD-R in my CD-rom drive.

I do not know what is causing this message... most peculiarly, when i
restarted my computer after it occured most recently, changes I had made to
my desktop icons (just organizing & re-arranging) reverted back to a
scattered, disorganized form, as if i was in the middle of moving them, even
though i had finished a good 10 minutes before the blue screen appeared.

Does anyone know what I can do about this frequent interruption, or what
could be causing this memory parity error?

Thank you,
Lauren

Test your memory. I like Memtest86+ from www.memtest.org. Obviously, you
have to get the program from a working machine. You will either
download the precompiled Windows binary to make a bootable floppy or
the .iso to make a bootable cd. If you want to use the latter, you'll
need to have third-party burning software on the machine where you
download the file - XP's built-in burning capability won't do the job.
In either case, boot with the media you made. The test will run
immediately. Let the test run for an hour or two - unless errors are
seen immediately. If you get any errors, replace the RAM.

A memory parity error usually means that you have defective RAM in your
computer. There are memory test programs available on the net.
In all likelihood, the only solution is to replace the bad memory module(s).

just a thought,
does it give an error number or anything? cuz if it doesn't, it might just
be spyware trying to screw you up. so you might wanna check to see if there
is any spyware on the computer before you go and start making purchases.
