After many days trying to discover problems with exchanging my Dell DVD drive
for a different DVDRW drive I got the big blue...

The technical information *** STOP: OxOOOOO 5 c [the c had a comma like
thing attached to it] Then Ox8 with a lot of symbols like upside down
question marks then OxOOOOOOOO, Ox8 with more of the same symbols and a G5,
then just OxOOOOOOOO - all in parenthesis.

The message below said beninniing dump of phylical....Which I did read
about, I am just concerned about all those weird symbols.

Though I don't know if it is related - when I defragmented last night there
was a LOT of new unmovable files and my used space was up 2%.
I defrag often and this was a BIG jump from two days ago.

Thanks,
Liz

First of all all of those letter O values in the error code and
parameters are actually number 0. The characters used in these codes
and parameters are always numbers 0 through 9 plus letters a through 5
(representing hexadecimal (base 16) digits 0 to 15).

Right click on "My Computer" and select Manage. Expand the Event
Viewer category and browse through the Application and System
categories looking for red-flagged error records whose date and time
stamp corresponds to your blue screen problem. Double click on an
error record to see the details of that error. You should then be
able to copy and paste the actual text of the message into a reply
back here. That may show us something more about what is going on.

Good luck

Ron,
Only this morning -after owning a computer for about 10 years, did I know
about the event viewer - Jeeze.
Though I found it about 9am and am still looking at things, Your responce
hit the nail on the head - thank you.

I do Not have an answer as to what happened, there is nothing reguarding the
Weird symbols, it's like it is in part some other language.
Maybe you noticed my other post, reguarding the 250,000KB note pad text
saved on my computer shortly after or before (?) that.

I have been having DVD drive issues and it is possible all this was caused
from that, but after that blue screen and then the note pad log file where I
can actually down load someone else mailbox - its got me wondering....

Do you know if 250,000KB IS a huge file to be saved? I think it used over
1% of my computer??? dont know where it came from.

If you are into securtiy and want more on that, please respond to my other
email.

Below is what it said clickikng from the event viewer to ms - though I do
not think that is what happened to cause my problems, There is nothing else
close to the time it happened, another kind of strange thing...

-- The DHCP Client service on your computer did not receive a response from
the DHCP server to renew your computer's IP address lease. The client still
has a valid IP address and periodically will try to get an address lease
extension.

This could be caused by network connectivity issues, a DHCP server or relay
malfunction, firewall issues, or a malfunction of your computer's network
interface card or driver.

Thanks,
Liz

You are getting a dump of physical memory. The strange symbols are the
result of the conversion of separate bytes whose values exceed 128 decimal.
A person who can decode the dump (not me coach) ignores the symbols.
