I was wondering if someone here could provide some insight
into a problem I am experiencing with my 770X. I recently
did a clear install of W2K following a complete disk
reformat to wipe clean. I had previously had a virus that
wiped out my OS (NT 4.0). Following the installation
portion of the OS install, as it is doing the setup the
process stops and goes to the dreaded blue screen with the
following message:

STOP: 0x000000E0 (0x00000001, 0x80000003, 0x00008080,
0x00000000)

Your computer (BIOS) has reported that a component in your
system is faulty and has prevented windows from operating.
You can determine which component is faulty by running the
diagnostic disk or tool that came with your computer.

If you do not have this tool, you must contact your system
vendor and report this error message to them. They will be
able to assist you in correcting the is hardware problem
thereby allowing windows to operate.

I have run the diagnostics from EasySetup and all
components checkout OK. I do not have the tool that came
with the computer so I can't do that. My question is what
is the error defined by the 5 sets of 8 digit numbers
listed above so I can determine what the faulty component
is.

Also, I was trying to flash the BIOS with the latest
release, but because my batteries are both old and hold no
charge the procedure will not allow me to proceed. Has
anyone come up with a way around this requirement of
having a full battery to flash the BIOS. What is done with
desktop systems that don't have battery backup?

Looking at the internal debugger, the only good way to find out what is
causing the problem is to run the diagnostics from the vendor CD for the
motherboard if there are any. Unfortunately you hit one of the true
hardware STOP codes out there that we wont be able to help you with, you
will need to speak to your hardware vendor to determine the issue.
