I am installing a copy of Windows XP Professional on a PC I have just built
with an Intel Motherboard, 4 gigs of memory, Intel Quad Core chip, 2 250 Gig
Sata harddrives and 2 Sata DVD drives. Things looked great until I tried to
install XP pro...the files were read in and the screen announced that it was
preparing to go into Windows when the blue screen of death appeared telling
me that it had to shut windows down in order to prevent damage to the
computer. I tried each HD separately, cut down to one DVD drive, and 2 Gigs
of memory. Identical error. Any suggesions????

Check to make sure the BIOS is just set to SATA and not SATA-AHCI or SATA-
RAID for the hard drive interface. Also, you might want to hit F6 during
the setup and feed it the mass storage drivers for your I/O chipset. XP
might not have them on the original install CD.
