Hi

Keep getting the BSoD, my pc has been running fine for approx 1.5yrs, and just recently i have made a few hardware changes:

2 new sticks of Kingston 1G RAM 400 Mhz DDR PC3200 3-3-3 (previously Elixir 512 X 3)
A new External HDD ( Western Digital)
And a new USB 2 Card (Unbranded)

The error message is:

0xoooooo9c (0x0000004, 0x80545FF0, 0xb2000000, 0x00070fof)

Any ideas would be appreciated

Running a ASUS K8V SE with a 3000xp (64 Bit) CPU

Bsod

What is your O/S is it 32 or 64bit?
When did the problem start? Which new part had you just added?

Is there more to the BSOD error mesage?

The O/S is 32 bit

I installed the memory, Ext HDD and USB2 card, now removed the USB card to see what happens!

Problem started 2 days ago.

Hi V_R

The bios says uninstall any new hardware/software that was recently installed, disable BIOS memory options such ad caching or shadowing etc bla bla, then that it is dumping physical memory

It could be the fact that you have replaced the RAM in your machine.

If possible try putting the old RAM sticks back in and see how it runs for a day or 2.
If you stiil get the issue it could be either the external HD or the internal USB card.

Just try and eliminate each of the above by either disconnecting/uninstalling them.

Good luck ;)

This is a hardware issue ... an unrecoverable hardware error has occurred.

The parameters have different meanings depending on what type of CPU you have but, while diagnostic, rarely leads to a clear solution.

Most commonly ... it results from overheating, from failed hardware ... RAM, CPU, hardware bus, power supply, etc. ... or from pushing hardware beyond its capabilities ...
overclocking a CPU.

Well its down to a process of elimination then i suppose, i've removed the USB2 Card, if it still happens, i'll try the memory removing one stick at a time, then swapping them, and maybe putting the old stuff back in.

Here's an interesting thing with the RAM slots; where you place your RAM will dictate the RAM speed. For example, if I place a stick of double sided RAM in DIMM1, I get DDR 400. If I add another stick of RAM in DIMM2 or 3, I still get 400. But if I place those same two sticks of RAM in only DIMM2 and DIMM3, I would end up with DDR 200 speed. If I filled all three slots up with double sided RAM, I would still only have DDR 200 speed. The max speed that can be achieved with all three slots filled is DDR 333. There is a very extensive chart in the manual that explains how to properly fill the DIMM slots.
oops ...
