BLUE SCREEN - How Annoying

Been using vista happily for 4 days now - about 2 hours ago my PC
bluescreened - gave me 0x9c (Machine_Check_Exception) - sometimes I can be
in windows for upto 2 mins before it happens but it keeps happening. D'oh.

Re-imaging back to XP now - nevermind was fun while it lasted. I just hope
this isn't REALLY a hardware error...

I had a MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION BSOD when in the middle of installing Vista.
It turned out it was caused by overclocking my computer. The second I quit
overclocking, Vista installed fine without a hitch. A
MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error lots of times is caused by overclocking or bad
memory. If you're not overclocking your system, perform a memory test. If
that doesn't work, Google 'MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION'.

Thanks for the advice but I think I might have it sussed now - any attempts
to boot off my primary hard drive result in "Disk read/write error - press
ctrl+alt+del...." etc etc.

Hardware problems are the most expensive! :(

But did you ever notice that it takes a lot less time to swap out a hard
drive than it does to figure out how to remove Symantec AV?
