.
I have encountered similar problems. I just installed SB
Live 5.1, I rebooted system and installed the drivers and
rebooted for installation to take affect and I received
the Blue Screen of Death with Stop error:
STOP: C0000218 {registry file failure}
the registry cannot load the hive file:
\SystemRoot\System32\config\SOFTWARE
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent or not writable.

worst of all I have not made a backup. I need to access
study material for school and I am staring at a blue
screen. help!
