Ive just built my new system around an Asus A7n8x deluxe rev 2 motherboard,
with an Athlon 2800 CPU and 512mb of 3200DDR Ram. All was well untill I
started installing drivers for my USB devices, and now I keep getting a blue
screen saying IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL. Then I have tp restart the machine.
Also, it wont shut down right. Like I say, this wasnt happening until I
started installing drivers.

By the way, sorry for the x-post

TIA

Try the latest nvidia drivers..
this was a common error with some versions of the nvidia drivers..
Just saying U should give it a try is all
:)

OK, here's an update.

Ive discovered all my problems go away if I dont install the wireless
network. What was happening was if I had the network working, and tried to
dial my DSL account, it dropped to that blue screen. I had it at one point
where I just had to load the WLAN configuration software and it fell over.
Sooooo, next question is why is my Belkin wireless USB adapter killing my
new system? Worked fine with the old motherboard,CPU and RAM. As far as I
can tell I have all the drivers installed from either Windows Update or the
CD that came with the board, except for SATA with I am not using. The USB
drivers are an interesting one. There are some installed, but I didnt
install them. Windows has got some dated 2001 and 2002, but it wont let me
update to the ones off my CD, saying it cfant find any that are appropriate.
Could this be the root of my problems?

Many thanks in advance, it's greatly appreciated.

Cheers

It's a chipset, or memory timing problem. See if Asus or The chipset mfgr
has an updated USB driver. Sometimes slowing down the memory in bios a step
or two can also fix it.

I sent a reply to this via the JANET news server this afternoon, but it
seems it's not got outside their news servers. I'm sending this via
PlusNet to see if their news server is any better.

I've had pretty much the same problem you're having with the Belkin
wireless USB adaptor. I could get a wireless connection and get to my
ISP ok (the router keeps the connection alive). The problem I had was
establishing a VPN connection to work. As soon as I tried to do this the
machine would crash and reboot.

To cut a long story short, the problem seems to be the the Belkin USB
wireless managment tool. If this is running the system resets. If I
abort it and try to establish a VPN it works fine.

I'm using the drivers supplied with the adaptor (version 1.1.2.34, date
01/11/2001). I tried the drivers on the Belkin web site, but the 2002
"driver" only seems to install the management tool, and the latest
driver renders the adaptor uesless (at least it couldn't see any wirelss
access points).

Try stopping the managment tool before you start up the network link. If
it works, just uninstall the tool so it doesn't get restarted every time
you enable the wireless adaptor.
