One of my co-workers is getting this error, all of a sudden the blue screen
comes up and hence the error. I know this is a badblock in a hard drive, she
has lot of document sitting on the harddrive. I just wanted to know if i can
fix it without getting a new harddrive or run some sort of scan that will
bypass this error from reading or saving a file on that bad block.

Thanks

If you are getting bad block on the hard drive you will not be having a
functioning hard drive much longer.

You can still read the hard drive as a secondary drive, or plonked into
an external enclosure, but only keep it long enough to back up and
retrieve your important documents.

So basically it's a dying harddrive?

Very likely, Yes. Backup her stuff without delay. it COULD linger for
months, or even years, but it could also die tomorrow.
