Blue ray disc

Blu-Ray are one of the two next generation High Definition DVD formats which will be coming out this year which give between 20-50GB of storage.

They haven't started pricing yet - but you can be assured they are going to be expensive!

Edit: Sony have announced the launch of the first Blu-Ray Recorder - the Sony BDZ-S77 goes on sale in Japan on 10th April, RRP $3800.

Blu-ray is also what the Playstation 3 will use, and is why Sony wants it to be the next big thing. :)
 
We got rid of Video Tapes and now have DVD's, will this replace them at a future date?

No doubt it will at some point in the distant future, but I believe they are going to make the players compatable with DVD as well.

The other factor is which format will prevail, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD? - my money goes on Blu-Ray due to the higher capacity and the fact that they are being backed by more influential manufacturers.

But who knows? - Betamax was better than VHS, but VHS won the battle....
 
i watched a tech programe on them couldnt beleive they are making disk's that can hold so much infomation.
 
people now are much better informed on the advantages of technical products now then they were in the betamax days.

i dont want to use either. It seems that lately any new technology has a dodgy side to it. spyware, adware, back doors. its everywhere. there was a cynical article on the whole hd-dvd/blu ray situation.

i dont trust vista either. probably be riddled with all sorts, especially since microsoft are so keen on having their own anti-virus and not allowing norton or anything.

saying that, you cannot ever fully uninstall norton unless you format your drive.

everything this so bloody dodgy now...
 
Upto about 1 month ago I was obviously things have changed :P ;)

The reason why I said it was simply because Sony themsleves would not certify the integration for definate purely because of the fact of cost
