Blocking XP SP2 with corporate firewall

We have issues with XP SP2 and some applications that are
run at our orginization. All users are allowed to download
configure their comptuers to download software updates (we
don't have a corporate update server yet). We need to be
able to stop users for receiving the SP2 update with the
auto update (or any other way). We have blocked the SP2
page on our web proxy server right now, but need to stop it
from being downloaded other ways (auto update). Does anyone
know how we can do this?

Thanks

Thanks I found this, but we have 5,000+ users and we can't
verify that everyone has run this software. We have no way
of centeral SDS or any other method to run things for them
on login (Many people are not even joining a domain).

This is an educational facility, so unfortunately we are
still struggling to gain control of the environment.

Thanks

They Comos has spoken.

If it wasn't done right in the first place,
it will be done right now.

And as time passes,
more things will out of spec will stop, break, or error
out.

A BIG management error in judgement will not make an
emergency for nation or world in need of safer, more
reliable computers.

Mercury is in Rx until Sept 2nd.
Redo the past details overlooked and get it done by the
end of August.

The Stars have spoken.

I want to block it also. What sites/ports should I deny access too.
All my machines in the school district should be pretty up to date,
since I just reimaged them all in the last two weeks. I've seen a few
posts about Novell's remote management not working correctly, and I'd
like to block it for a week or so, just so I'll have time to make sure
everything is working correctly.
