Blocked Services

I am making changes to a Service that was originally developed prior to
Antispyware being installed.
The service, which was originally developed on this PC, no longer starts &
timesout.

I am investigating whehter AntiSpyWare is the cause.

I notice that when a new service is installed the Allow/Block dialog is
displayed - on all occasions I have clicked on the Allow button but when I
look at the application events the message
"Windows Services alert

Occurred on: 23/12/2005 at 12:04:02

The user xxxxx, has decided to block the Windows service EFT System
C:\Projects\xxx\xxxx.exe from being added."

is shown

I.e indicating the service is actually blocked. Is this true? (how could I
find out) - If it is blocked, how do I actually allow it?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Karen

Hi Karen,
Open MSAS,go to Real Time Protection, click on Blocked Events and see if
your app is listed.

Hi Mike

Thanks for your reply.

When I check the blocked events, the service is not listed - so if it is
(for some unknown reason) blocked I am unable to unblock it.

However, this morning the beta has expired and so is not (presumably)
running, and the service is still not running so I guess its back to the
drawing board.

Thanks

Karen

Karen, It could be a software incompatability issue but without knowing more
details about the app you are trying to run it is difficult to suggest a
solution. Also, despite the fact that the Beta you were running has expired,if
there were registry changes made while it was in effect then there would be a
carry on effect.
