block or allow

window pops up asks me if I want to block or allow
registry startup "command.com". I click block. go to
restart my laptop, and I get the blue screen death. After
I safe start windows, command.com starts opening dos
windows. can anyone tell me what the hell command.com is?
 
Command.com is a Windows component for your 'command
prompt' or Dos window. It's legit, depending on where it's
located. In most cases, it should reside in your
C:\Windows\System\Command or C:\Windows\System, it will
depend on your system. Since you are inquiring about
'command.com' I imagine you are running a Windows 9x or ME
since in Windows 2000 and XP, they don't use command.com,
but rather cmd.com.
