When I switched to XPProfessional several saved messages
now have a block on the attachment as a suspected "virus".
In fact they are only screensavers that I've used many
times before. Now they have .exe designation and the
attachment box has disappeared. How do I get rid of the
block?

See if this information helps:

This worked for me.
Just to save time, here's a list of most of the
attachement types that microsoft doesn't think I''m old
enough to see

..exe;mdb;.scr;url; bas; ade; adp; bat; chm; com; exe;
hlp; hta; inf; cmd; ins; isp; js; jsc; lnk; mda; mdb;
nde; mdz; msc; msi; msp; mst; pcd; pif; reg; scr; sct;
url; vb; vbe; vbs

If you copy this into the level 1 remove registry entry
you should manage to stop it censiorign your mail.
