Hi Twayne
If you read my last post carefully, you will see that I said, in part,
almost the same thing you did. I have been posting in these
Yes, you did. But you also allowed yourself to be sucked into a silly
exchange of words, as I am allowing you to do to me this one time, with
your own potshot at your opponent.
In fact, I only chose to include you AFTER I'd reread the thread so I
wouldn't place undue credits.
newsgroups since 1996 and when you make in excess of 86,000
posts--mistakes are occasionally made. However, when I made one, I
"fessed" up and apologized for any trouble it may have caused.
I would consider that ego; it's not only irrelevant, the "title" means
little in reality and I could not care less how long you've had it. It
means nothing in the context of this thread. It's almost comedic to
think that you've actually COUNTED the number of posts you've made!
With
this said, I am not about to let somebody named Unknown take potshots
at and call me names just because he/she disagreed with a valid
I don't think there's a lot you can do about it. If I want to take a
potshot at you, I will. So will anyone else here. You do not have that
control and never will have. What you really need is a thicker skin and
improved interpersonal skills, perhaps rereac your creed again.
recommendation. There is no ego involved here--remaining silent
indicates to me that I agree with what is being said and I most
certainly don't.
Your comments at times really make me doubt that your experience on
groups dates back to 1996; especially that one! 2006 maybe?
You know, by definition, that fits the ego def perfectly! I
seriously doubt that an advanced, experienced user would make such a
statement unless he thought he were talking privately to a newbie who
didn't know any better. And obviously there aren't many of those here.
And there's nothing private about any newsgroup.
And you are wrong about me being interested in
power plays--that is typically reserved for trolls and younger,
I don't think so. I think I hit the nail on the head, based on your
response.
inexperienced people who need their egos stroked.
There I disagree: I've found very few literal ewbies who want their
egos stroked. They talk more the way you are doing, in fact.
I am working on
being 64 years old and I have been recognized by MS as being extra
helpful to people with 13 consecutive appointments as an MVP--MS does
not give MVP awards to trolls.
Actually, they do. They'll give them to anyone who appears to meet the
criteria. There are a few ex-MVPs here, as a matter of fact - so they
do also remove the "title" when it's warranted. Being an MVP makes a
singular statement about a person and their promises and a few
demonstrated talents; nothing more.
The many thanks I have received over
the years have provided all the stroking I can handle
That's good, because I wasn't about to stroke you here.
Hope this clears the air a bit.
No air to clear. IMO you ran afoul of staying on topic, have an ego
problem, and think you can power push people who say what they're
thinking, away from you.
I've nothing further to say as I feel I've said everything I need to.
So respond all you want to save face; I've no intention of prolonging
this little attempt at powering your way into position. The ether is
yours.
Cheers,
