Not sure where to go to ask this so redirect if needed.

New problem---
When I open a Word Doc and click on an actions,(Tools, Mail Merge or
Draw, Grid) all that happens is the top line of the screen ie. master doc1-
MS Word and the icon in the task bar blinks blue. Sometimes the action is
carried out while others the system just sits here. Sometimes it doesn't
happen at all!!

I recently loaded Norton SystemWorks2004 and I'm not sure if
this is a Word problem, Win 98SE problem, NSW problem or a combination.
Never has happened before.
The system seems to running great except for this "new" problem.
The only thing I have running on a continual basis, under NSW, is
autoprotect for e-mail protection.

This is happening in Word but have not tried other programs in Office2k.

Suggestions please,

L.

Open Norton Anti Virus and disable the Office Plug-in option.

Thanks for the info. Had to dig to find the setting(s).
What exactly does this do, as far as protection?

L.

It's a sort of belt and braces: the general consensus is that as long as NAV
program scanner is running, you are protected and the Office Plug-in is a
sort of double check.

However, it has been muted that there exists a remote possibility that an
email attached document which is password protected may be able to introduce
a virus without it. This seems exceedingly unlikely though.

Personally, I'd never recommend NAV to anyone: FSecure and Kapersky are the
best AV solutions - but both are more expensive than NAV.
