I have seen a number of posts where people have reported that, after
installing updates, they've run into a problem with their printers
disappearing, the spooler stopping and/or failing to start or other similar
issues. Please note that this isn't a problem with the patch itself, and the
vast majority of PC will not see this issue. I believe that this may help in
the majority of cases:
1. Click on Start, then Run and type "cmd" and press enter or click "OK" to
open the command line.
2. At the "C:\>" prompt, type "sfc /scannow" to run the system file
protection scanner. This may prompt you for the Windows CD to restore the
original file versions.
3. Reboot your computer.
I believe this may fix most problems related to printers disappearing after
installing the blaster patch. If this doesn't work for you, let us know by
replying to this thread. Please provide:
Your network environment
Exact printer model name
Any information you can provide about your printer driver
Any additional description of the problem
