blank window in device manager

my PC froze while my daughter was on the internet, Now when I open Device
Manager there is just a blank window, and I cannot find any help in the
knowledge base.

Start the Plug and Play service.

Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click Plug and Play |
Set Startup type to Automatic | Click Apply | Click the
Start button | When started, close Services

No Items Appear in the Device Manager List When You Open It

Reinstall your motherboard drivers. Never get drivers from Windows
Update. Get them from:

1. The card mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if onboard video; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

Make sure your computer is virus and malware-free, of course:
