Using IE6 on Windows XP Home Edition. When trying to access a specific web
site on my home PC (www.entertainment.com), I immediately get white space and
"Done" in the status bar. At work it loads just fine. I turned off pop-ups
and allowed this web site to always display in my IE privacy settings but no
change. I have no other problems accessing other web sites, but I cannot get
this one to open. Must be a setting but I can't figure it out. Anyone have
an idea? Thanks.

Hi,
This may be a JavaScript problem.

Try these steps:
Go to Internet Options> Security> Internet Zone, set it to Default.

Or, try the Internet Options> Security settings at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/restricted.htm#Setting

Check any third-party security programs to see if one of them is blocking
scripts, scripting, active content. Norton Internet Security and a number of
other programs can be configured to block scripts.

Clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's often
recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

Try these two commands from Start> Run> cmd [enter]
regsvr32 vbscript.dll [enter]
regsvr32 jscript.dll [enter]

Reinstall the scripting engine. Go to
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
for the appropriate download of Windows Script 5.6

Re-registering the DLLs listed in this article may help:
281679 - You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing Happens
After You Click a Link: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

Hope this helps,

Don,

THANK YOU!!!

I have been dealing with this same problem for months and worked around it
by using Opera to browse (but my wife wanted me to fix IE).

Ironically, your link to 281679 was the fix for my problems - the irony was
that I couldn't open the link to the article in IE, I pasted it into Opera.

So, registering all those DLLs seems to have been the magic bullet.

Any ideas on what I did to cause the DLLs to get messed up in the first place?

Thanks again!
