I have a sony laptop with factory installed Windows Xp. I inadvertlly disabled the video drivers and now only have a blank screen when windowss has completed loading. Is there a way to to inable the video drivers without doing a system restore, which, I understand wil reformat my hard drive.

Hi Jim,

I unfortunately did the same thing you did. Using my XP upgrade CD i was able to enable the service I disabled, but I still have a blank screen. If you boot up to the CD, (first go into your BIOS setup and make your VD drive the first boot device), you can choose "R" for repair, which will set up a repair console. Type help and you will see a list of items you can use.
I used "services", but I enabled the service incorrectly, so I have to try again. I hope this might help you.
I made the problem on my laptop like you did. This PC also can't connect to my laptop now, so I can't fix the problem over my network. If you get any good advice that works let me know. I'll do the same for you.
Good Luck,

Bob
