I have been trying to download the xbox 360 media center extender.
when I click on the link a blank screen pops up. After hrs on the
phone with dell I come to find out I can't download anything from
microsoft. I can download from every other site in the world just not
microsoft. I have done a complete reinstall of my 4 mo old dell xps
computer and the problem still persists. dell is stumped and i am worn
out. if anyone has any ideas please let me know. thanks for reading.

This can be caused by an entry in your hosts file redirecting a URL to
nowhere. Find your hosts file (it has no extension) and open it in Notepad.
See an entry for the Microsoft web site (and possibly others)?

Hi Cotton,
Try to scan for Malware and Viruses first and have your AV up to date
definitions, to access the HOSTS file go to Windows Explorer and Click the
plus sign [+] beside My computer to expand then Click plus beside Windows
to Expand and you will see System32 click on it to expand and scroll down to
drivers, click on it to expand and look for etc folder and click to select
and look in the Right Window [Pane] for HOSTS but not the One with Extensin [
..SAM] and openwith Notepad. Remove any reference for websites there look
suspicous to you or which redirect your Web browser.
After finish Editing the HOSTS file Save and close.
Go to your IE and Right click and select Properties from the sun-menu then
click on Programs Click on Reset All Web Settings and close.
Reboot your computer and see if you could go to Microsoft website.

If no joy.....
Try to assign microsoft web address ( the normal web address & the one for
updates) in your trusted Sites in the Security Tab and in Content Tab.
Please write back and let us know
Good Luck
