OK, I've already tried searching google and altavista. I'm hoping someone
can point me to a web site that I haven't been able to find. I want a
really good comparison shopping website that specializes in SOFTWARE, if
such an animal exists. The closest I've found is shopper.com, but it
doesn't focus on software and the results I've obtained by using it are less
than satisfactory. Is there a good pricing bot type search engine for
software? I've had really REALLY good luck using bookfinder for books.
I'll include the link here so you can get an idea what I'm looking for for
use in sniffing out software deals. -Dave

Amazon.com does do a price search comparison(within their structure),
for both NEW, and USED items!

I do always try to use license free software, from http://sourceforge.net
for these reasons:
1. The Authors (development team) are known, and can be contacted!
2. No spyware, no ads, no mandatory upgrades
3. Any patches, bug fixes, and upgrades are free.
4. With over 78,387 projects, there is something for everyone!
5. Cross platform programs run in MS, Linux, MAC, BSD systems!
6. You can contribute your ideas, and even join a team!
7. The support forums are usually knowledgeable, and on line 24/7!
8. No back doors!!!
9. The Source Code is there, so htat I can validate teh program, or
customize it in a compile on my exact machine, to run the fastest!
10. All software is tracked, with performance reports, updates,
through-out the life of the project, and I can see it ALL!

Yeah, I like the idea of license free software, also. But there is not good
license free software for every function that you need to perform, yet.
While I've done some shopping on Amazon before, I'd rather find an
independent search engine for software, if I can. Using bookfinder, I've
found good deals on books, and SOME of those good deals just happened to be
through Amazon. Would I have found all the same deals using only Amazon?
Maybe, but I'd feel better knowing the search isn't run by a particular
vendor. Call me paranoid, but I can easily imagine how that might skew the
results somewhat. :) Nothing against Amazon though, as they do sometimes
have pretty good deals. -Dave

Nope it doesn't

pricegrabber comes to mind.... there really isn't much is there?,,,
non bias ones anyway...

Yes, it does. For example, I just did a search for "mcafee virus scan oem"
and turned up a whole list of hits (at really cheap prices, too)! Try it.

hmmm I tried windows OS and got nothing, But it was during a Web
hiccup from my ISP, might have dropped the connection or something.

Might give Google's new site Froogle a try. Have not tried if for
software

OK what the heck, here ya go

Hey, that works pretty good for software. You might want to use it with
resellerratings, though. But that looks pretty close to what I'm looking
for. Thanks. -Dave
