Blank Error Message

When I open the Internet Explorer browser, I get a very
small error window, with no error message displayed. And
everytime I close the window, another one pops up. Also,
the first time I open the browser for a given user on my
machine, 61 windows automatically open. There are 3 users
on my machine and I've experience this "funny" behavior
using 2 of them. The 3rd user account can access the
Internet with no problem.

This sounds like a virus to me, but my virus scan comes
back clean.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any ideas?

Sounds more like spyware.

http://www.ada-ware.com/

Was that a typo? Or are you drumming up business for that site? ;)

The domain name makes me think of software tools for defense
contractors but they seem to have taken advantage of misdirection too...

Notice the message at the very bottom (without a forwarding link):

BTW www.ad-aware.com redirects to another unconventional link:

So it looks as if somebody else has snapped up that domain name too.

Top search for "Ad-Aware" in a Google web search goes here:

Here's the link that Microsoft gives:

(in <title>Spyware and Deceptive Software</title>

)
