Is there any utility which check the blank
cds to pass fit.
Or
is there any way to check the blank ones
before writing/burning in NERO EXPRESS
(bundled with cd drive) or in Drive Image 4.0

I've got sort of the same problem. Got a brand new box of CDRW's for
christmas, but can't use them :o( (my 9x system doesn't recognize them.....
at all, my XP system did, but the XP system has been down for the past few
weeks, and as it still is..... they're pretty much useless).

This is problem with new cdrs in Drive Image 4.0. At the end it says cannot
write image file
to the cd. I have tried quite a few.

This is a new cd drive with Nero Express prior to this was using Easy Cd
Creator with old
drive and the Drive Image 4.0 had no problem
to write Image file to cdr/cdrw.

The NeroToolkit will check your CDs under Nero CD Speed. (If you have it)
That's weird, Nero Express has rendered my CDRs useless on my Win 98.
CDRW are fine to burn.

There are 2 types of CD-RWs: normal (up to 4x IIRC) & high speed (max. burn
speed > 4x). Older drives only recognise the older type.

The CDRW that wouldn't recognize it is a standard 8x4x32 IDE-CD RW. I tried
it with the CDRW drive in the XP system before it went down and it
recognized it without any problems at all. Latest ASPI drivers are
installed, so thats not the issue, and it's only with these particular
CDRW's, other's work without any problems.

The CDRW's themselves are Packard Bell standard 4x 10x compatable's

Ah, so as JanC said, you are trying to use high speed disks in a low
speed drive.
Here is a couple of links to try and explain-
