Black Screen

We have an application that runs fine on our local area network, but when it
is used on the terminal server, the screen turns black. I have contacted MS
support, no answer. It is a random thing, but it seems like it is happening
more often.

I am not sure that it is limited to this particular application, but this is
the most used app on the server - so it is the most likely one to display
the symptom. The application was written in Visual Foxpro.

Any one have a suggested fix for the black screen.

can you provide some more detail? Does the entire screen
turn black when you are working with the program?

Can you switch to another program and have the screen
start working properly?

Have you tried changing the color palette on your client
machine? Have you tried updating the graphics drivers on
the client?

We have tried several color schemes on the terminal session, and on the
client computers. We tried setting the dsiplay settings on the client to
256 (the max RDP client supports anyway), but the problem keeps recurring.
Changing the client's color settings isn't a solution that I could convince
people to use anyway.

It looks like once you get the problem, it affects the entire desktop. If
you close the application, the desktop icons are blacked out (as are the
captions). The start button is also black. A disconnect and reconnect to
the same session clears the problem, temporarily.

I got some help from an MS tech support guy, but most of the suggested fixes
didn't seem to do anything. One suggestion he had for reducing the colors
used in the application (as we can recompile it) and setting an option to
use the windows pallete instead of the default 'optimized' pallete are still
pending. I hope this works.
