I am having problems with a black screen whenever i start windows Vista
normally. It acts like it starts up normally seeing the green bar and the
scrolling thing. Then i hear the windows "ding ding ding" but i dont see a
logo and infact my monotor is not even illumanated with the back light at
all. I have had many successful boot ups and have owrked fine but when
installing any virus protection it does this black screen tingy. What i did
to regain my computers concious is boot in safe mode and start system
restore. Now listen to this when restoring i restored to before i installed
windows messenger.... and it worked it should restore fine to that point
right..... and it did..... the first time but when i installed AVG virus
protection (the first time my computer did this i installed windows live one
care) and i tried to restore back to the working messenger one but to my
surprise it didnt work??? so i restored it up to the very first one before
installing updates and it worked and havent dared installing anything else
intel then so here is the recap

Booted Fine
Installed Windows One Live care
Restarted
NEVER ENDING BLACK SCREEN (with sound)
Booted in safe mode
Restored back to Messenger save point
WORKS FINE
Installed AVG
NEVER ENDING BLACK SCREEN (with sound)
Restored back to messenger save point
NEVER ENDING BLACK SCREEN (with sound)
Restored back to very first point computer before installing any updates
Restarted
WORKS FINE

I know farfetched right but i cant install any virus protection without fear
of crashing my computer and seeing this black screen. Please help!!!!!

You can NOT have 2 anti-viruses on your computer at the same time.

Nonsense! Of course you can!

It's not a good idea to have both scanning at the same time, but you
can even do that.

I have found that any of the anti-virus programs I have installed recommend
against more than one anti-virus program running on the same computer.

Yes, I also recommend against doing that. I didn't say anything to the
contrary. What I did was correct the erroneous statement "You can NOT
have 2 anti-viruses on your computer at the same time." Not only can
you do that, many people find it a good idea to do it, and to run two
or more, but *not* simultaneously.

Ken, you are incorrect.

I'm not going to get into a "no, I'm not," "yes, you are" war with
you, so this will be my last response to you on this subject.

What I said was completely accurate. I know several people who have
multiple anti-virus programs installed. However they do not run them
all at the same time.
