I would say the PSU is on it's way out, these graphics cards that have the
extra 12v connector really strain a psu of 400w and under.

Start your game and after the black screen comes up hit the info button on
your monitor. It should show you a resolution and refresh rate. Sounds like
you have yours set to high.

My monitor currently says 1280x1024 H:91.8Khz V:85.5hz

The Media Centre Edition is OEM only, and is designed for distribution with,
and installation on, a MCE capable system. Where did you obtain it? It
wouldn't have been though the normal channels (and, if it came with a MCE
capable system, you are in violation of the EULA by attempting to install it
on any other system).

Actually it came with my brand new custom build PC from alienware but fyi it
has a Multicomputer clause so i can in fact install on 1-3 computers

No, it is sold though normal channels now with *hardware*.
It is not a violation of EULA to install on a single system.

I'd say, Radeon. 9700 was a buggy chip, and i wouldn't be surprised that
it makes problems. Recently, i worked on the similar machine (only i had
G500), and tested with it a whole bunch of hardware, and it haven't failed
me any time.

Try changing R9700 with some other card, or try with new drivers, perhaps.

PROBLEM SOLVED... WAS ATI DRIVER 4.9 which dint work very well with my
radeoncard.. when i updated to 4.10(had to undelete 4.9 first..lame) but
then everything worked like smoooooth :)
