Inside folders the files are suppose to be in black text. One day some of
the files seemed at random started being written in a blue text. They are
not files i use a lot or a little. How do i make them go back to black and
why are they turning blue?

Asked and aswered already.

Please don't Multi-Post.
Please learn to Cross-Post to pertinent, On Topic, News Groups instead.

Where else did he post it, Dave? I'd like to see the answer.

Answered in another newsgroup. Please do not send the same message
separately to more than one newsgroup (called multiposting). Doing so just
fragments the thread, so someone who answers in one newsgroup doesn't get to
see answers from others in another newsgroup. And for those who read all the
newsgroups the message is multiposted to, they see the message multiple
times instead of once (they would see it only once if you correctly
crossposted instead). It wastes everyone's time, and doesn't get you the
most information.

If you must send the same message to more than one newsgroup, please do so
by crossposting (but only to a *few* related newsgroups).

Please see "What is the accepted way to share a message across multiple
newsgroups?" at http://smjg.port5.com/faqs/usenet/xpost.html

Blue files are compressed.

Green files are encrypted.

Turn off at Start>Settings>Control Panel>Folder Options>View

Uncheck the appropriate option box.

Note: this will not de-compress nor decrypt the files.

Personally, I like to see the colors so's I can keep track.

They turned blue because all the air was squeezed out of them. ;)

They are compressed to save space on disk because they haven't been used
in a while and Windows decided to do you a favor.

Open My Computer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View tab, scroll down to
"Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color" and uncheck it.

I prefer to have them shown in color, it makes it easier to find
recently accessed or created files in Explorer.

Hi Rhonda:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support

Blue file names are compressed files (OS compressed on NTFS partitions)
Black file names are normal files.
