We do classroom support by making student manuals and
instructor guides from ppt slides. Before XP we could
change slides to black and white and copy and paste into
Word and they would stay b/w unless you clidked into them
and then they would go back to color, but now they won't
stay b/w. Anyone know how to NOT have two files (one b/w
the other color)

Thanks

Nope. MS "fixed" this, and now the B/W image export is broken. (Please don't
get me going.)

You can apply a B/W color scheme to the slides and see if that helps, but
honestly, 2 files is about the best workaround. Oh, or contact Shyam Pillai
at http://www.mvps.org/skp -- he may have something that would work for you.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello Chuck,

PowerPoint no longer has the capability to send to Word (or copy to
clipboard) slide images/object as they appear in either Grayscale or Black
and White View. Instead, slide images/objects are always copied in full
color.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide an option for copying slide images/objects as Grayscale or Black
and White <when viewed in that mode> (without having to resort to VBA or
add-ins), don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to
Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
