Black and Decker Firestorm Drill Prices?

Iam in Australia.

Iam just looking for a cordless drill. The Cordless Firestorm looks
good. I got a price for 199 at the local Hardware shop. Is this a good
price. I did a search on the web and can't find much stuff related to
Australia. Going to another hardware shop today to see what price they
give me.

I like the way you just plonk off the chuck and theies a drill their.
Drill Hole chuck off screw in screw in screw, Repeat. Had a good look
at it because we have one at work.

Any other drill have this feature. Building some furniture at them
momment so it would be handy. Even though i have a corded drill. But
it does not have a keyless chuck and is just to damn clunky to use
without swearing alot.

Also would be great for moding my pc. WHich is alot more relevent to
this forum :)

A cordless drill is the only way to go. Everybody who has one will
tell you that. You don't know what you're missing.

Keep in mind that NiMH (nickel metal hydride) is superior to NiCaD
(nickel cadmium), for the rechargeable battery.

A keyless chuck is okay I guess, it depends. If not for the fact
that keyed chucks might be difficult to find now, I wouldn't buy
another keyless chuck drill unless the shaft stayed locked in place
while I'm turning the chuck. The cheap drills make you hold on to a
small portion of the chuck while turning the other portion of the
chuck. That set up makes putting a good grip on the drill bit
difficult. Cheap drill makers are probably saving money by getting
rid of the keyed chuck. I think a cheap keyless chuck is worse than
a conventional keyed chuck.

I wouldn't buy a Black and Decker invention, I would buy a quick
change add-on chuck and some quick change drill bits. The quick
change stuff is a marvelous tool, IMO, it makes changing between
drill bits and screw bets a breeze. Besides switching between drill
bits and screw bits, the most common use might be for drilling a
smaller hole first. When you do a bunch of changing between drills
and screw bits in one session, it becomes much fun.

If you are going to buy any new drill bits, if you don't want to
spend on quick change stuff, get the new drills that are beveled so
they won't slip in the chuck. But if you don't buy a quick change
chuck, you can't quickly change between drill and screw bits.

In other words... I would go with a cordless drill, either a keyed
chuck or a shaft that stays locked in place while you turn the
keyless chuck, and a quick change add-on chuck (less than $10 USD)
with some quick change drill bits.

I might forget about a large conventional chuck in my next drill and
go for a smaller quick change chuck built in, cordless of course. I
think that is the standard with impact drills. If I need to do any
precision drilling, I can use my drill press (or drill a small hole
first).
