Bizarre problem, fast cursor & clock?

Don't know where to turn on this one...

I've got an Asus A7N8X Deluxe (rev 1.04) with an XP2100. No overclocking,
bone stock and it has been running fine for nearly three years. Occasionally
the
blinking cursor/highlight and clock (time not system or FSB) speed up
visibly.

The system seems to be running fine and there are no error messages but it
is
running like it is on speed. A reboot brings it back to earth.

Any of you gurus have a clue on where to look for the problem. Do you think
it is
getting ready to croak?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

Same problem more or less for a lot of nforce2 owners. Take a read here. The
hottest clue is some kind of interrupt storm. I usually check reported cpu
speed with MBM after bootup. If that is wrong, I reboot. Happens 1of 10
bootups ca.

Thanks for the info, at least I know I'm not alone or crazy... It
does seem to be an intermittent and inconsistent problem so I'll
keep looking.
