Bizarre import problem

I'm accustomed to problems importing numeric vs. text formatted cells from
Excel, but this one has me stumped.

I have a field in Excel that is a text-formatted list of numbers. I created
a separate field in which I converted these numbers to numeric format. When I
import the sheet to Access, the import wizard sees the numbers, and I specify
numeric format for one field and text for the other. But: When the sheet is
done importing, both fields are entirely blank.

I tried exporting the sheet from Excel to text and verified that the data
was there, then imported from text to Access. Same problem all over again.

I am at my wits' end. Anyone know what gives?
 
recheck your formatting coming out of excel, also check your field types in
the table you are importing to.
