I have a strange problem. I configured a brand new
computer and connected it to Internet via an ISDN line. So
far so good. After couple of minutes I closed IE and the
Internet connection. When I tried to reconnect problems
started. My IE flashes on the screen for a fraction of a
second and disappears. My first suspicion was that
IEXPLORE.EXE is corrupted. Knowing that OS regenerates
IEXPLORE.EXE whenever it cannot find it, I renamed
IEXPLORE.EXE to IEEXPLOREXXX.EXE. Indeed, IEXPLORE.EXE was
recreated only a couple of seconds lated. Sadly, the
behaviour of IE did not change and it was stil just
flashing on the screen and disappearing. Then I started
playing with the renamed version of IE (IEXPLOREXXX.EXE).
When double clicked, IE runs OK but only in compatibility
mode - otherwise it works fine. When the name of the
executable is changed back to its original form, it does
not run any more. Has anyone experienced a problem like
this?
