I am running Outlook 2000 on WinXP Pro. Just wondered if any of you ever experienced unexpected high CPU usage when you are using Outlook, even all alone. When I am using Outlook my fan (I have a laptop and docking station) starts up indicating that it is really working hard. I look at my task manager and Outlook.exe is using like 95% of my CPU. This indicates to me that some kind of script (probably malicious) is at work because simple e-mail shouldn't use this much power. I don't have the latest and greatest equipment but a P3M 700 with 256MB of RAM should not be chugging so hard
Should I just uninstall and reinstall Outlook? If it is a virus or something I wonder how I would go about checking and removing it without having to reformat the whole computer. If I do reformat, how can I be sure the messages that I drop back into my reformatted hard drive won't reinfect
Love to hear your thoughts
