"bitmap image is not valid"

When opening IE, the following error message pops up:
"bitmap image is not valid"
After closing this box, IE loads and runs with no problem.
How do I get rid of this error message?

Run MSCONFIG and under the Startup tab.
Check the unknown process against this list.

Search your computer for all bitmap (*.bmp) files. Any one you do not
recognize?
