I have Bitlocker installed on my primary drive and I'm currently running
Vista Ultimate SP1 RC1. I have a couple of questions about encrypting a
secondary drive:

1. If I encrypt the second drive will I need to un-encrypt it before moving
to the RTM version of SP1 or should I be able to uninstall SP1 RC1 and then
install SP1 RTM and continue to be able to read the encrypted second drive?

2. Does Bitlocker use the same key to encrypt my second drive as it used to
encrypt my main drive?

The keys will be different for the different volumes that you encrypt.
I encrypted a external hard drive. I just plug it back in and Vista reads it
as normal. If I take it to another computer, it says it needs formatting on
the other computer. I haven't tried it on another Windows Ultimate machine
yet.

I don't imagine that you will have to decrypt your encrypted drives to
install the release candidate of the Service Pack.

I use Bitlocker on my primary drive and TrueCrypt on an external secondary
drive. I can mount it anywhere using TrueCrypt Traveller Disk. Just a
thought...

I was just experimenting with a palm sized 8 GB external USB hard disk. I
don't know how useful it would be to bitlocker encrypt this. I'll give
TrueCrypt a look over though.
