From what I see, when entering a B'Day in a Contact Record, there is no way
to override the 15 min default alarm at that time. However, you can go the
Calendar and find the B'Day event. Double click it and select Open the
Series. You can click the Reminder Drop Down list and select from a whole
range of pre-event reminder times. You can even type in times not shown on
the list.
Even though the above works, it is a pain to individually update each B'Day
on the calendar, especially if you imported a bunch of records with B'Days
from another source.
The BCM should really have a way to change the default reminders for things
like B'Days and Anniv. Additionally, it should allow you to set a "string"
of reminder times or, better yet, set-up "reminder names" to apply to any
given appt, task, etc. My current CM software allows me to do that, so like
for B'Days, I have an alarm named BDay Alarm that gets applied to all B'Day
entries, and that named alarm has a string of times for the alarm such as 1
wk before; 2 days before; 1 day before; 3 days after; 1 week after.
