birth/delivery professionals

It is cost prohibitive for many birth and labor delivery professionals to
have to spend $85,000 dollars for a software application ment for a/n
hospital provider. I have access, excel word2003, etc. etc. what I need is
something in and editable format, where by I can enter edit save transmit
electronically, all the information of a live birth. similar to but not
exactually like a vital record. If any of you doctors, midwives, Physicians
assistants, nurse midwives can help, or have something that will already work
with my current applications please let me know.
 
Have you verified the regulatory environment within which you'll need to
build/buy this system? In the US, recent HIPAA regulations may constrain
both what and how ...

I have all the appropriate documentation which decribes the design minimal
requirements. they assume design knowledge on the single providers part
that most do not have. The law does not govern the keeping of my records,
only that I keep them in a specific manner. I will not spend $85,000
dollars. when I can some how learn or aquire the appropriate db form or
template. I must keep records and I must be accurate and I must be timely.
