Depending on the specifics of your motherboard this may or may not be
something to worry about. Many OEM systems (Dell, Gateway, etc) mask the
BIOS messages displayed during startup. I'm assuming this is so the user
doesn't get intimidated by the hardware they just bought and know nothing
about...
If your PC boots, this is probably the case and is nothing to worry about.
If you'd like to access the BIOS Setup, you'll need to mash one of several
possible keys as the system boots. Typical choices are F1, F12, and DEL,
though this is far from standard and varies wildly. Some systems may tell
you to press a specific key to view the system startup messages (Gateway
systems, for instance) while others (like Dell) just mask the display
entirely.
As Bastet cattily suggested, consult your motherboard manual for the
specifics.
