Im installing a new Hardrive and XP home edition on my hp e-pc 42
computer and it was recomended to up grade my BIOS before instalation
of the OP system. I still have XP Pro on the old Hardrive but I would
like to know how to upgrade the BIOS on the computer before I install
the new Hardrive and OP system.

Thanks for time and input.

Here you go... it's all on the hp site

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...SeriesId=73077&swItem=vc-11022-1&mode=4&idx=0

Though personally, if your PC works fine the way it is... then don't touch
the bios... after all, an upgrade of your bios is not going to speed up
your PC to such a degree that you'll even notice.

As we say in engineering, if it's not not working... then it's working....
so leave it as it is ;)

If the system runs properly with Win XP pro SP2, then it should run with XP
Home without a BIOS upgrade.

Having said that-- There may be a reason for the BIOS upgrade. The OEM notes
concerning the BIOS upgrade should
explain the details.

One major consideration on laptops and other name branded computers such as
HP, Dell, Gateway, etc.
Is that they sometimes have unique hardware that requires drivers from them
to operate properly.
Laptops are a typical case of this.
You should make sure that you have the needed drivers as installable
packages on media other than the old or new HD.
