I own a fujitsu-siemens amilo D P4, 2.6 ghz. notebook. By a cruel twist of fate, I inadvertently updated my bios with the wrong version from the internet for a different model or mainboard. Well obviously now that's disastrous and my notebook won't boot at all. all I get is a blank screen at startup and noting else, zilch. the service agent's have informed me that I have ruined the mainboard and that this needs to be replaced at great expense. The mainboard currently takes a removable amibios 686 chip. the motherboard also appears to be a regularly pc motherboard. Is the advice of the main agents necessarily correct or an easy way of making a quick buck or is there another way for me to resolve this problem, for eg. replacing the bios chip and clearing cmos? Any help will be highly apreciated.
