bios update and compaq junk

does a bios update effect the fans running or not??
compaq says yes..what can i do to make it stay running.
my fans quit and the computer overheats...I need help.

this is the second compaq i have had and i hate it.
terrible computer
 
Check power settings. Make sure you are cofigured for correct computer type.
IE Desktop---Laptop.
