I have an HP Presario v6000tx running under XP SP2.

Laptop's Part Number on Invoice and on Bottom is GQ362AV.

BIOS states Presario V6000 (GB115AV).

GB115A is the P/N of the installed Intel Graphic Accelerator.

What do I lose in not correcting the BIOS?

Will I be getting the wrong updates from HP and/or Microsoft?

How can I correct the BIOS?

I tried setting the BIOS to defaults.

I also used a SP from HP and flashed the BIOS.

You will just have to live with it!
Mike.

Software updates from anybody are based upon software already installed, not
on BIOS version..

That's indicating a V6000 with an Intel GB115A Video
accelerator built into the motherboard. If you
register with HP for update notifications using the
GQ362AV PN, they will advise you by email of
important updates.

Don't get any hardware driver updates from MS.
Use OS updates only from them.

Nothing.

No.

How can I correct the BIOS?

You haven't established that there is anything wrong with the BIOS;
just that you don't like its contents. To change it, obtain a BIOS
update from HP or Replace the motherboard.

Because the BIOS has the wrong Part Number, will I get a Color Purple
Error when I attempt using the Recovery Disks that I made?
