John

i have foolishly changed and then forgotten my BIOS
password. i was hoping somebody could help me fix the
problem.

Cheers

John;
For a desktop, normally a jumper change on the motherboard.
Check the motherboard/computer manual or contact the manufacturer for
details.

For a laptop, usually contacting the manufacturer is necessary.

In either case this a BIOS issue and has nothing to do with Windows.

This is the hardware forum, not software.
if a laptop you can get cmoskiller, it blanks the password
on laptops, Only certain manufactors however.
for desktops you can either place the jumper for your board
to reset the bios password or remove the mb battery, for a
few seconds, this will also blank out your password.

The easy way to reset the bios password is to remove the battery for a few
seconds, then replace it - Or if you have the mother board documentation,
you could flip the reset jumper.

good luck

Apparently you misunderstood at least part of my post.
The point being The BIOS does not depend on the OS.
In fact an OS does not need to be installed to access or change the
BIOS.
Regularly people ask what effect formatting etc. has on the BIOS.
