BIOS is not installed

Whenever I boot up I get a message saying "BIOS is not installed". The BIOS
*is* installed and seems to work fine and I can boot into Windows XP no
problem at all.

My motherboard is the MSI K8T Neo. I have been getting the message since I
first installed the mobo and I've just flashed the BIOS to update it and I
still get the message.

Any ideas?

Looking into it further apparently it's because I had a SATA controller
enabled (i.e. the default setting) but no SATA drives attached.

This is correct. A SCSI adapter, or a device that emulates SCSI e.g. SATA and Promise ATA cards, will not install its BIOS in memory if no bootable device is detected.
