Bios flash ASUS 9800Pro to XT?

Hello all. I'm new to the group. I was just wondering if anyone has
ever tried that bios flash on an ASUS Pro to make it into an XT? The
price difference is substantial for what is supposedly the same card
physically. I'm interested in the ASUS because it's the only 9800
manufacturer I know of that makes a 256 MB 9800 that also captures video
like an All In Wonder card. I just wanted to check, because I don't
want to hose it once I get one. I see bios' made for Saphire and some
of the rest, but nothing yet the specifies the ASUS.

The AIW, AFAIK, still don't come in 256 MB for those who are curious.
In any case, the ASUS is what I've had my sights set for.

Sapphire branded cards are, as the expression goes, "eminently flexible",
whereas Asus are not quite so, comparatively. Sapphire is also one of the
best manufacturer's on the planet, which they should be, considering that
ATI themselves sell ATI cards with the ATI logo on them that are
manufactured by Sapphire.

While I hate ATI, rue the day when I bought an ATI instead of an nVidia (my
last ATI purchase was before nVidia even existed), and hate the control
panel/drivers and the people who wrote them intensely, I am glad that I at
least bought a Sapphire instead of some other brand.

Technically, anything that works on a Sapphire-branded ATI card should work
on an Asus-branded card, one can never be sure what subtle differences will
exist.

Appreciate the reply. My main reasons for going with Asus are for its
video capture capabilities, and the fact that I had an Asus back when
they were with NVIDIA and liked it. If I knew of a Saphire card that
also combined video capture with a 256MB of RAM and a 9800 Pro/XT chip,
I'd surely consider it though.

Thanks again. If anyone else has any hands on experience, please let me
know.

You can't make a Pro into an XT. The XT has a different chip made by a
different manufacturing process.
The

Whoever told you that the XT and the Pro are the same physically didn't know
what he was talking about.
