BIOS boot device priority

Hi, all.
1.Since the floopy drive does not work properly now, can I disable it as
boot device in BIOS?

2. Can I set up the boot device priority as follows?
1th IDE hard disk
2th and 3th DVD-ROM and DVD-R
4th USB
3. How can I know if the motherboard support the function of booting from
USB stick?

How or why would you boot to the usb,w/o a OS the selection is useless,same
with dvdrom or rw,if you need to boot to the dvds with xp cd in one,change
the BIOS for that,otherwise,IDE IDE IDE

Yes, but it will make it impossible to boot from a CD so long as the
hard drive is present with boot files of some sort, even it it will
not boot successfully. So if you get an Unmountable_Boot_Volume
error on the hard drive you will be unable to boot from the Windows XP
CD to run the Recovery Console until you change the boot drive
sequence. Better option is to put the hard drive as the last choice
in the boot sequence and make sure you remove bootable CDs before you
shut the computer off or reboot it.

3. How can I know if the motherboard support the function of booting from
USB stick?

Read the documentation that came with the motherboard. Note that
Windows XP does not support booting from a removable device, including
USB sticks. However you might be able to boot DOS, an older Windows
version, or a Linux distro from a memory stick. I have never tried
it.

And also you can replace your floopy drive for about eight bucks American.

Probably, you'll have to read your own manual for yourself.

Again, read your own manual for yourself. Also, in order to boot from
the USB stick, you'll need to be using an operating system that supports
this; Windows doesn't.

Disable the floppy entity entirely. If available, the floppy controller as
well. Or, replace the defective unit.

Fine if you remember this if your hard drive fails to boot. You'll have to
reset the boot order to one of the DVD devices first in that case.

Tried that with 98SE's version of msdos. All I got was a headache. 3rd
party boot manager saw it too as bootable, same headache.
