Hi
I cannot seem to find out if my comp is running properly, the start-up
screen say my AMD 2000 is a AMD (tm)XP 1250. I cannot find the a FSB which
some people have advised, but I changed the CPU clock speed from 100 to 133.
After that the computer started in safe mode without seeing the CD drives.

System=
CPU1005 Athlon XP 2000+ THB (OEM) 266FSB
SL-KT400C (SKT A)DDR mainboard
RAM0006 512Mb DDR266 PC2100

Win 98 se

Many thanks..Nigel

Something is wrong with your system. It should be stable at 12.5 X 133. I
believe the multiplier is locked and you already tried setting the clock to
133, where it should be. Your other components are running at a speed which
is referenced to the 133, though. CHECK THERE FIRST. For example, I
believe your PCI bus should be at /4, or 33MHz. At the previous setting of
100, it would be /3. If it's still /3, that would explain windows starting
in safe mode.

But if you aren't overclocking your PCI bus, start suspecting bad RAM, or
possibly a bad CPU. -Dave

Hi
Many thanks everyone, in the end what I needed to do was to set the bios to
133, at the same time set the 5 switches on the mainboard.
