Binding Chart To Data

How does one bind a query to a chart or the datasheet
behind the chart? I have this query with data to feed the
chart. I hand copied the data into the datasheet looking
grid behind the chart. I need to have this be bound to and
display the query resulting data set for the charting
results automatically.

Can anyone tell how it's done. I've looked up this
information in the help file to no avail. It does not seem
to be as intuitive as it's done in forms and regular
reports!

Help??????

Steve:

Yes, I did! However, using the method you've described
poses an issue of maintaining the links to the charts. A
co-worker of mine has tried what you suggest and the
process lost the link to the chart(s) every time the
transferspreadsheet function was used. Unless, you can
suggest a method of maintaining the links effortlessly!
Oh, did I mention that I am using Access 97.

So, I worked with the Access chart and graphing tool until
I got a result close to what I need. Only thing missing is
the binding of the query to the datasheet type interface
behind the chart/graph.

Thanks,

Russ

If you've got a query that you can open and paste the results into the
Chart's datasheet *and* that gives you the chart result you want, then you
should be able to simply set the Chart's Row Source property to that query
directly using the Properties box in design mode. This is where the
datasheet interface gets its data from.

Guys:

Thanks for all the help. Is there a method of getting a
bell curve chart in Access or even Excel. A customer uses
StackGraphics to create a bell curve chart after exporting
the data to Excel, then cutting and pasting from there
into StackGraphics to get the results he wants.

There must be a simpler way. Isn't there?

Thanks,
